Operation Beaconport Support

What is Operation Beaconport?

Operation Beaconport is a national programme led by the National Crime Agency (NCA). It aims to make sure past cases of child sexual abuse and exploitation were handled thoroughly and fairly.

Police are reviewing some cases reported between January 2010 and March 2025 where:

  • Sexual abuse was reported
  • More than one person was suspected
  • No further action was taken at the time
  • The case involved one or more victims and contact offences
  • The suspects are not known to have died
  • The case has not already been independently reviewed

This review looks at whether anything may have been missed and if there are now opportunities to take further action.

You are in control

You decide how much support you want. It is okay if you are not ready straight away.

You can stop support at any time and come back to us whenever you need.

How you might be feeling

Everyone reacts differently. You might experience:

  • Shock or disbelief
  • Anxiety, anger or low mood
  • Difficulty concentrating or intrusive thoughts
  • Changes to sleep or appetite
  • Feeling unsafe or out of control

There is no “right” way to feel, and it is common for this to change day to day.

About your investigation

Your Family Matters worker is separate from the police investigation. We are here to support you whether your needs are emotional, practical, or connected to the criminal justice process.
