What we offer

At Family Matters we offer up to 12 free counselling sessions for individuals affected by sexual abuse, or rape, available face to face at a range of venues, online or by telephone. Our professional team including both qualified counsellors and those in training are here to support you, no matter your age race gender or background.

We provide specialised services for both children and adults, offering a safe and non-judgmental space for healing. Whether you're seeking immediate help or therapeutic support. We're here to walk with you on your journey to recovery.

Your Therapy Journey


  1. Apply:
    Complete an application online.
  2. Initial Consultation:
    You may be contacted for an initial consultation if we require further information.
  3. Waiting List:
    You will be placed on the waiting list and receive confirmation of this.
  4. Optional Support:
    Practical and emotional via our Support Line may be available if appropriate. For more details, please refer to the Support Line tab.
  5. Therapist Allocation:
    Once a therapist is assigned, they will contact you to arrange your therapy sessions.



Throughout, our aim is:
  • Provide a safe and confidential environment for survivors of sexual abuse to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
  • Offer specialised, trauma-informed counselling to help reduce emotional, psychological, and physical distress.
  • Support clients in addressing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and self-esteem.
  • Empower survivors by guiding them through personal growth and promoting healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Offer assistance to individuals at risk of self-harm or suicidal thoughts.
  • Provide inclusive services for people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds, including children and adults.
  • Raise awareness about sexual abuse and its effects on victims to educate the public.
